In 2012 my list of goals contained the usual nonsense, but I also added two items that I was quite excited about. I decided to read the complete works of my favorite author, Ernest Hemingway, and I decided I wanted to hike at least 1000 miles.

Today we’re talking about yesterday and yesterday was awesome. Except for the part were I got my ass handed to me on Air Show. Seriously.

This race is one of the largest 24 hour events in the world. Over the course of a weekend, a small village sprouts up in the middle of the desert as 3,500 racers, spectators, and event organizers make their home at the Old Pueblo.

The Norwegian explorer, Roald Amundsen, once said,”Adventure is just bad planning.”

On a gorgeous August afternoon Laurie and Ryun were married on the banks of the New River in the mountains of North Carolina. They were surrounded by family and friends and their beautiful daughter, Lindley, who celebrated her first birthday the day after the wedding.

Let me tell you about this little secret in Northern California called the Redwoods.
