After a brief break I am happy to say that the desktop wallpapers are back!
This is something I’ve wanted to experience for a long time – Linville Falls in the snow and ice. Last Friday was perfect for a late afternoon adventure in the snow with my Emily. It is possible to access Linville Falls from two different parking lots- via the Blue Ridge Parkway or via the US Forest Service. Because of the recent snow, the Blue Ridge Parkway was closed. So, we made our way to the parking lot on the Forest Service side. We started hiking to the falls just before 5pm. I knew this would give us enough time to view the falls from two different vantage points. We reached the first overlook as the late afternoon sun was sending streaks of light just over the canyon walls. It created a great juxtaposition between the warmth of late afternoon and the cool of the inner canyon. As the sun neared the horizon Emily and I made our way over the the Plunge Basin Overlook, which is where this image was taken. After the sun set, we walked back to the car by the moonlight and it was perfect.
